Autism hits home for me in both my personal and professional life.

I proudly work as part of a team to provide ILS services to individuals living independently with disabilities and mental illness, including many with a diagnosis of autism.

My 6 year old son was very recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and, while I have had my suspicions since he was a baby, having this confirmed was a tough pill to swallow. We now have answers but also know the journey ahead is going to be a long, sometimes challenging process. I feel very blessed to have figured this out early on in our sons life to help him find the tools and skills he will need to thrive and lead a successful life. He is such a bright boy with so many things to offer this world and we know that this does not define him!! My goal is to continue to educate myself about ASD, advocate for my son, and spread awareness as much as I can. We are still in the baby steps of figuring this all out but I believe there is power in numbers and strength in supporting one another to face this head on, grow in our knowledge, and advocate for ourselves and those we love.

Hearing the diagnosis of autism begins the journey to see and learn about life from a unique perspective. According to the CDC, 1 in 59 children has autism. Thousands of Minnesota families are faced with the challenges of navigating an autism diagnosis each year.

Fortunately, evidence shows early intervention can result in dramatically positive outcomes. Given the right tools and support, people living with autism can make great strides at any point in their lives. As the largest and most experienced provider of autism services in Minnesota, Fraser can help individuals with autism and other special needs reach for a bright future.

This April, I will be raising support and awareness for Minnesota families affected by autism at the Fraser Walk for Autism. Your support will help provide life-changing services to these Minnesota families.

Please consider joining me and making a gift today! Each dollar moves us one step closer to realizing a future where all individuals have the equal opportunity to live, work, learn and play as members of our community.
