Since the discovery of ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer in 2007, advances in precision medicine and targeted therapies have dramatically changed the treatment landscape. For many patients, ALK inhibitors have extended survival, improved quality of life, and created treatment possibilities that once seemed out of reach.

I am taking Lorbrena.  In the clinical trial, 55% of patients remained alive without disease progression after seven years. That is an amazing result, yet 45% did have progression and urgently need more treatment options.  More research equals more time.

I owe a huge debt to those who came before me, who received an 18 month prognosis, yet survived against the odds by participating in clinical trials for new treatments.  Today, durable responses and long-term solutions still depend on continued investment in science, and clinical research. A cure is possible, and the young people, and young moms and dads with this disease deserve a shot.
