My Journey!!

As many of you may know, I was diagnosed with Stage 2B breast cancer in February of 2016. Life as I knew it stopped for me the day I received the call that I needed to have a biopsy! I was told I had two tumors that needed to be biopsied. A few days later, I was called into the doctor's office and was told that I have cancer. There are no words to describe what it was like to hear the word...cancer. From that day, my treatment path lead me to have a double mastectomy, 16 chemo treatments, removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes, 33 radiation treatments, and five years of anti-hormone therapy.

Chances are you or someone you know has be affected by breast cancer. I have been affected on many levels. I watched my mother battle the disease as well as several family members and friends. Now I'm in the driver's seat and it has been quite the ride.

I have decided to take part in GloriDays and make a difference for those touched by breast cancer. Along with Team 306, we will walk 24 miles over two days. Each step of the way, I will be thinking about my mother's journey, everything I just went through, walking for all the family and friends that have gone and are currently battling this disease, and all the survivors. Twenty-four miles may seem long and hard to accomplish but it is nothing compared to what I walked through last year.

Here I am present day...a survivor, smiling, full of life, and ready for a challenge. The funds raised will support the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation (90% of funds raised supports education, wellness resources, and survivorship programs in our local community).
