What is Golf Marathon?

Golf Marathon is an annual golf event benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana (BGCK).  It’s a fun-filled day on the links where golfers play an incredible 100 holes in a one-man scramble!  Each player will play one 18-hole round, hitting five to six balls per shot, until they have played the equivalent of 100 holes.  Golf Marathon has a fun, relaxed format that allows golfers the opportunity to do something all of us always wish we had the chance to do: throw down an extra ball and try again!  This format is why it’s aptly referred to as the Golf Marathon!

How do I fundraise???

Very simply your goal is to ask others to support your participation in our annual Golf Marathon!  You can ask for a donation per hole, per ball or just a flat amount.  You will be surprised how willing people are to helping when you let them know about this endurance event in which you are participating and that this is all for a good cause – helping nearly 4,000 Kentuckiana youth! 

We are asking each participant to raise at least $1,000.  Know that we are here to help with your fundraising efforts.  We have an on-line fundraising page and sample emails to help you; you can post something on your Facebook page; you can ask your employer to sponsor you; you can ask your vendors to support you (your barber, electrician, doctor, etc.) or you can ask your golfing buddies, relatives, members of your church and anyone else that usually asks you for money!

How can I participate and help (even if I do not play golf)?

Individuals sign up and are either placed with their buddies as requested or are assigned to a group to meet new people and play a lot of golf.  If you do not wish to play, you can participate as a caddy. Caddies are an essential part of the day by picking up all the extra balls which allows golfers to play fast and remain focused on their play!  Adult caddies fundraise just as the golfers do! 

Will I get to meet any youth or staff from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana? 

Yes.  Some Club Kids and staff will be at the event.  Club kids volunteer as caddies to help the teams.  You can ask them about their experiences and begin to understand the impact your efforts and investments have on them and our community!
