I want to thank each of you who have supported me over the years in our effort to support the Boys & Girls Club. Last year we had the “Over the Edge” event where we rappelled off of the 18th floor of the Downtown Marriott. What a blast that was and thanks to many of you it was an unqualified success.
This year we are back to the 100 Holes of Golf Marathon and we need your support more than ever. Enrollment is up and the clubs support is making great leaps in providing a place of safety, a place to call home to so many of our disadvantaged youth.
New programs are being developed to meet the changing needs of the kids. One program that I think is unique to our urban youth. The Parkland club is raising vegetables in their own garden. Not only are they raising crops but they are raising cash! Yesterday, Oct. 5th they had a farmers market!
They not only have raised crops, raised cash but they have raised their confidence level on what they can do. The have raised their awareness of where our food comes from and the amount of care and hard work it takes to put food on the table.
