I came across this opportunity to support veterans, as well as check off one of those bucket list activities. I have never jumped before and working for a veteran-owed company, I have been in contact with Heidrea for Heroes in the past on ways we could work together to support veterans.
A short story on why I'm jumping - on a recent morning over breakfast, I sat next to an 80+ year old gentleman who had a Korean War cap on. We started chatting and I told him about and my plan to skydive at this event ... as it turns out, he was a paratrooper in the Korean War and he proceeded to tell me a part of his story. Due to an error in coordinates, his unit was dropped into enemy territory. 7 out of 18 in his unit survived, thanks to help from the Marines. Tears began rolling down his cheeks as he shared this detail. I never got his name, but I dedicate this jump to him.
