Jamie and I will be participating in Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County and Greater Apopka's Women Build for the 10th year! This is a cause that is near to our hearts, and we couldn't do what we do each year without your support! Orlando, and its surrounding areas have become one of the toughest places in the US to afford rent. Housing prices and mortgage rates have skyrocketed, making homeownership less and less obtainable for many people. Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka has a proven model that helps families escape the cycle of poverty, teach financial stability, as well as skills to set them up for long-term success. Habitat Seminole-Apopka works alongside these hardworking families and individuals, offering a hand up not a hand out, to build quality, safe, and affordable homes. Working alongside future homeowners and seeing their excitement and joy, while they put in the sweat equity, building their home from the ground up, as well as working on others, is one of the most rewarding experiences. Hearing their stories, and seeing the impact that stable, affordable housing has is truly incredible. Just as Women Build brings people together to physically construct and finish the houses, it could not be done without the support of many.
