As a parent, an educator and someone deeply invested in expanding opportunity for young people in our region, this work is especially meaningful to me. The average cost of a full day summer program ranges from $400-$900 per week. For families living on the margins like the one I grew up in, this is simply not an option.
I’m raising funds for Horizons Greater Philadelphia so that more students that look like me and the children I've committed my career to have the opportunity to learn and grow in a place where they are affirmed, challenged, and celebrated. I’ve seen firsthand what happens when students have access to consistent, high-quality learning experiences. I've also seen what’s possible when that support continues year after year.
Horizons programs don’t just help students keep up over the summer. They help young people build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and discover new interests in environments where they are truly known and supported.
What makes this work especially powerful is that we’re not just supporting one program. We’re growing a network of Horizons sites across Greater Philadelphia so more students can access these opportunities. We're already expanding opportunities from North Philly to Delco. But there is still so much of our region where this commitment to joyful learning is not available.
This Giving Day, every gift is being matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000. That means your support can go twice as far in reaching more students this summer and beyond.
If you’re able, I’d love for you to join me in supporting this work. Every contribution helps make this kind of opportunity possible for more kids across our region.
