It’s that time of the year when I reach out to ask for support for Horizons Greater Boston (HGB), an organization that I have been involved with since its inception in 2019. I am very proud of the program growth that has taken place over the past 6 years and the impact that HGB has had on so many students in the greater Boston area. I commit my time and energy to Horizons Greater Boston because I believe in the work that we do and continue to be inspired by the outcomes. At Horizons Greater Boston, we are more than a program; we commit to transforming futures. Our mission is to advance educational equity in the Greater Boston area through multi-year summer academic enrichment programs that help children thrive in school and beyond. Across all three of our program sites, students participate in tuition-free, full day summer programming that integrates literacy, math, STEM, and project-based learning with enrichment opportunities such as arts, field trips, and swim instruction. The program is intentionally designed to support the whole child. Each year, our students gain 6-10 weeks of grade equivalence in reading and math, while also developing increased confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
