Five years after first stepping into my role at Horizons at St. Richard’s, I’m just as energized by its mission as I was on day one. Even as my career has taken me to new organizations, I’ve never stopped finding ways to stay connected and lend my skills to this work.

This Wednesday is Horizons Giving Day, and in honor of the program’s 30th anniversary, Horizons is aiming to raise $130,000 and engage 330 community members. It’s an ambitious goal, and it reflects just how essential this program is for students and families in our community.

Horizons provides tuition‑free, year‑round academic and enrichment support, anchored by its six‑week summer program. Students receive daily reading and math instruction, swim lessons three times a week at the JCC Indianapolis, field trips, transportation, aftercare, and nutritious meals and snacks.

This model removes barriers to access, expands opportunity, and helps close the enrichment gap that too many students face.
