A remarkable woman...

May 19, 1921 - March 8, 2024

Ruth Schuld was an angel to NWPP for over forty years.  She was a rockstar when it came to fundraising and we hope to keep that going in her memory.

Little did we know in 2004, that Ruth Schuld would continue as a volunteer with NWPP for almost another 20 years!

She was an enthusiastic messenger of the agency, the people it helps, and the growing need for services and support.  Her view was from that of someone who had so much.  It included a large and loving family who was abundantly attentive to her needs; a senior living community that provided safety and security, in addition to experiences and new friendships; a large number of medical providers who guided her through the challenges of living as a centenarian; a caring and supportive church family that had been part of her life for over six decades; and many friends and relatives who continued to connect with her up to the end of her very long life of 102 years and 10 months.

She felt herself to be immensely blessed.  And she eagerly wanted to do what she could to help others, who were struggling.  Involving herself in many Walk-a-thon events, and raising nearly $172,000 over those decades, Ruth showed this community what one person can actually accomplish.  Her “habits of the heart” earned her the highest volunteer recognition at NWPP – the “Angel Award.”  This photo captures her very proud moment.

We honor and remember Ruth’s positive attitude, sense of humor, and straightforward approach to her fundraising efforts – “just ask!” Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all of us.

NWPP's integrated approach yields solid results to address senior homelessness in our community. Seniors come to NWPP with a myriad of housing complications and needs, so NWPP has developed different strategies to holistically meet each individual with services tailored for them. Below are the impacts NWPP made in my community last year. To learn more visit the About NWPP page.
