Why Your Help is Needed!

Traditionally United Against Poverty hosts our largest signature fundraising event, the Hand Up Luncheon, in the middle of October every year. Unfortunately, we will not be hosting an in person luncheon this year, but we still need your help.

More families than ever before are experiencing food insecurity with limited or uncertain access to enough food to support a healthy lifestyle. Much of our state’s workforce is unable to provide for their families. Senior citizens living on limited incomes are particularly vulnerable. People everywhere are stressed about being able to purchase groceries for their families. For these reasons our Member Share Grocery Program has continued to be available for those who need it most.

Unemployment claims continue to rise here on the Treasure Coast, with people being out of jobs for months on end or having been rehired only for their workplace to be shuttered again. Despite the closure of State Agency offices, our computer lab ensures adults may continue to access and apply for vital programs such as Reemployment Assistance and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the nation’s largest domestic food and nutrition assistance program for low-income Americans.

We are putting our full resources behind assisting our community – but we need your help and there are a couple of ways to help lift the lives UP of those in need in our community.

  1. Become a Hand Up Hero by registering today. Our Hand Up Heroes will create an online fundraising page, spread the love for United Against Poverty digitally through your own personal testimony, as well as updates from us, and invite family, friends, and colleagues to contribute financially if they feel so moved. We hope you will pull up a seat to the table and answer the call to help others who struggle with hunger, economic instability and potential homelessness.
  2. Make a general donation, whether it’s one time or on a recurring basis. General donations are put to use where the need is greatest, and they ensure we can continue to operate at full capacity and serve more than 450 families a day at our St. Lucie campus.

United Against Poverty relies on individual donations to provide services to those in need. With your continued support, we will be able to provide services for as many as we can, for as long as we can.

We cannot do this without you!
