On October 15th, Wes and I along with our friends Jen and Dan Anderson will be participating in a fundraiser for cancer research called Hackers For Hope – “The Final Hurrah”.
In 1988, Alfred Smith and Tim Brown founded Hackers for Hope while recovering from cancer. Their goal was to “give back” to the cancer research and treatment community that helped them and so many others. Over the years, Hackers For Hope has raised close to $17 million, these funds have gone directly towards cancer research and treatments.
Hackers for Hope has also become an amazing support network connecting people with cancer to doctors and treatments. We have seen first hand how important these connections are to individuals. I’m beyond thankful that the Hackers network has helped connect our friend Jen with amazing doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering. These doctors have helped her continue to live her best life with cancer.
Sadly, Al passed away in November 2019 and recently Al's co-founder, Tim Brown, lost his latest battle with cancer. Al’s wife Nan Smith made the decision to close Hackers For Hope after one final fall fundraiser called The Last Hurrah! to celebrate the accomplishments of the 33 years of Hackers For Hope and to honor the memory of Al and Tim.
On October 15th we will hack our way around the golf course paying tribute to Al and Tim and thanking them for all the lives they have bettered over the years.

In addition to golf on October 15th, there will be a cocktail party at Wee Burn Country Club to honor these men and the organization they founded. We would love to see you there!
