Let's Level UP Housing on Merit's Housing Innovation Collaborative and UPLIFT San Diego!

Thank you for joining my efforts to raise funds for two of my favorite nonprofits!  Housing on Merit's Housing Innovation Collaborative and UPLIFT seek to improve housing access and afforbability through innovation.  I serve as the Director of Housing Innovation for Housing on Merit and we have worked with UPLIFT on housing innovation and seeking placement for women veterans experiencing homelessness for years.  You can learn more through the links below:

HOUSING INNOVATION COLLABORATIVE - In early 2019, the leaders of Housing on Merit, alongside several partnering organizations from throughout the housing and community development ecosystem formed The Housing Innovation Collaborative (“HICo”), the nonprofit housing innovation R&D platform dedicated to showcasing, incubating, and implementing new policy, finance, and technology solutions to the housing affordability and homelessness crisis.

Housing on Merit, as one founding members of HICo, recently led a initative in emergency shelter – called The Rapid Shelter Innovation Showcase – creating a centralized resource to showcase the wide variety of shelter concepts that can be deployed rapidly (90 days or less) to help communities across the U.S. address their shelter needs during the public health crisis.  In coordinated efforts with FEMA and AIA (and in partnership with many others), the showcase is compiling the best and brightest concepts that have been implemented to date in addition to the next generation of emergency rapid response shelters for this crisis and future disasters.  In its first few weeks of going live, the showcase has recieved 39 submissions from around the world and has been highlighted in Dwell & Fast Company.  They are now looking to push forward a variety of pilot emergency shelter projects.

UPLIFT - Urban People Living in Faith & Trust - Uplifting San Diego’s inner-city communities by transforming the lives of people in need with Homeless Services & Student Services.  https://www.upliftsandiego.org/

UPLIFT URGENT COVID related needs:

• Transitioning FREE Kids At Heart Tutoring from site based to virtual platform to support distance learning for low income students, who are especially at risk of falling behind in school right now.   
• Homeless housing support to help with COVID Convention Center resident placement. About 1200 unsheltered there.  No pressure!
