Let's Level UP  Broadway Heights Community Council & UPLIFT San Diego!

Thank you for joining my efforts to raise funds for two of my favorite nonprofits! Broadway Heights Community Council  and UPLIFT exist to make transformative impact in San Diego.I believe in both organizations wholeheartedly.

I serve as President of BHCC & Founder of Martin Luther King Way Promenade. More importantly, I have witnessed with my own eyes and heart the incredible impact these groups have on the lives of those they serve. Here are links to their websites so you can learn more:

About Broadway Heights Community Council -

The Broadway Heights Community Council was founded for the purpose of enriching and celebrating the quality of life, safety and beautification of the neighborhood.  For the last two decades the Community Council has provided strong leadership and collaboration with the community and has developed partnerships with government leaders, community based organizations, business owners, schools, faith-based organizations, the Coalition of Neighborhood Councils, and the San Diego Neighborhood Funders.

This community maintains a strong bond and working relationship with the San Diego Police Department and as a result, Broadway Heights has maintained some of the lowest crime statistics in the city of San Diego for the last 28 years.  The demographics of the population are represented by a variety of ethnicities including African Americans, Hispanics, Filipinos, Asians and Caucasians.  Our goal is to build a safer community and a better quality of life. This group strives to educate our future leaders and offers opportunities for continued growth for our youth. Most recently the Broadway Heights Youth Leadership Team which meets monthly was successful in petitioning the City of San Diego City Council to have a neighborhood street renamed to Martin Luther King Jr. Way. http://www.bhccouncil.org/

We are raising funds for our MLK Way Promenade:

  • Increased Student Tours - almost 1,000 Students have visited in the first year of operation
  • Increased production of the 64 pg MLK Way Broadway Heights Educational Curriculum Guide
  • Increased maintanence of the site

About UPLIFT - Urban People Living in Faith & Trust - Uplifting San Diego’s inner-city communities by transforming the lives of people in need with Homeless Services & Student Services
https://www.upliftsandiego.org/

UPLIFT URGENT COVID related needs include:

  • transitioning our FREE Kids At Heart Tutoring from site based to virtual platform to support distance learning for low income students, who are especially at risk of falling behind in school right now.
  • homeless housing support to help with COVID Convention Center resident placement. About 1200 unsheltered there. No pressure!

If you want to make a huge difference, please consider joining my team, starting your own team to support another favorite non-profit too, or if you have the means to give, please consider supporting our team with a generous donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help us Level UP the transformative work of both these great organizations during this time of great need.

Gratefully,
Robbie Robinson
President BHCC
