Hello Friends and Family,
The Walkathon is back! This year the Walkathon - themed The Walking Saints - will take place on Tuesday, October 31st coinciding with both Halloween and the 500th anniversary of Reformation Day. Picture this: students of Lutheran High School in costume enjoying the crisp fall air, exercise, and the opportunity to walk their faith in their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Awesome, right?
The purpose of this year’s walkathon is to support our school’s ongoing efforts to help complete the financing related to the updates on our school’s athletic track and field. Last year, the students were given a goal of raising $10,000 and they exceeded that by over $2,000. No doubt you were a part of that success with your generous giving last year. If so, thank you.
This year, our school goal is $11,000.
When I reflect on how God has worked wondrous things at Lutheran High School in just this past year, I am humbled and amazed. Through the generosity of many, we have seen strong financial support from the walkathon, LuFest and the Development Office. God’s hand played a role in both the raising of money, but also in the financing and construction phases. With a short turnaround time over the summer, the construction company was able to start and complete the project in time for fall sports season. God is good!
The new field and track is amazing. The softer, smoother, safer surface is already being enjoyed by our football, soccer and track teams. It is such a tremendous improvement over the rutted, hard clay field of patchy grass that we used to have.
So, although we are blessed with the turf and new track that YOU no doubt helped support with last year’s walkathon, we still have an obligation to finish financing it. Volunteer help has been donated again and again. Our contractors have been so generous to stretch the dollars already given, but we have not hit our goal yet to complete the financing of the whole facility.
