sweet sister alice

On October 7, 2016 Alice Blair was 7 lbs 1 oz and 21 inches long, she had a full head of hair, ten toes and ten fingers and was ready to enter the world. But, her life tragically ended before it could begin. At 38 weeks pregnant Alice became entangled in her umbilical cord and was born still.

Unfortunately, Alice's story is not unique, 1 in 160 American pregnancies end in stillbirth - that's 26,000 per year (a schoolbus of children - 71 - every day!), and 10 times as many deaths as SIDS.  Like Alice almost 50% of stillbirths occur at or near full term in otherwise healthy babies.  And yet, very few people realize that this is happening or are doing anything to stop it.

Following Alice's death we found Star Legacy and were so thankful to connect with other families who had experienced a stillbirth and were inspired by their research based mission to try and change the statistics and save babies.

We hope that you can join Lanyon, Emily, Stella, Milicent and Jones on May 18th and walk for Alice and all of the beautiful babies gone too soon.
