Joel Denver McDonald was born on 31 July 2020. He was 32 weeks gestational age, weighed 3lbs 5.6oz, and was stillborn.
Two days before my babyshower was scheduled, I heard the words that changed our lives forever.... "I'm sorry Shannon, but your baby no longer has a hearbeat." I knew then that there wouldn't be a baby shower. Our son would never get a chance to wear all the cute onsies I had spent hours meticulously sorting by size, nor would he ever sleep in the nursery we had set aside for him.... but more devastatingly, he would never even take his first breath.
