While this year seems surreal, Literacy NJ Monmouth has continued operating remotely to help ESL and basic literacy students maintain and improve their literacy skills.

Our tutors and students have adapted quickly to distance learning.  Here are a few of our achievements in 2020:

  • Close to 60 percent of our students and tutors continue to meet on a regular basis via Zoom and FaceTime. 
  • The LNJ staff has worked with tutors to enhance their technology skills and has provided online resources.  A generous LNJ donor donated seven tablets to students who did not have a device to continue with their classes
  • Seven ESL conversation groups have been operating without a break in instruction
  • LNJ Monmouth held two online tutor training sessions and graduated 12 new Monmouth tutors
