Hi all. If you've reached this page, you probably know that I'll be thru-hiking the Long Trail starting September 20. Coincidentally, that's Long Trail Day, so I thought I might as well raise a little money for the Green Mountain Club. The GMC has stewardship of the Long Trail, which runs through Vermont's verdant Green Mountains. It's one of the most beautiful places on Earth: so much fir, spruce, moss and rock. People always say, "it smells like Christmas".
The GMC is a fantastic organization whose strength is its network of local chapters and their members. Trail maintenance (placing puncheon boards over marshy areas and mud, stabilizing trail on hills, clearing water bars) is largely done by volunteers, with support from the GMC staff and trail crews. There's a whole network of shelters, often with caretakers. So, by supporting GMC, you're supporting me and thanks for that.
