I think this organization is amazing. I was an ex debt collector in my first years of uni paying my way through medical school - and reflecting, we're just so privileged to have the Aussie healthcare system with all its unique flaws. 

Most debts are bought by debt buyers for cents on the dollar, and then the hound the debtor for the full amount, causing huge financial stress, worse health, its a toxic spiral. And in the US, its just if you had to go to hospital. The poorest often have the highest health problems, and therefore the highest health debts. 

This charity purchases targeted debts from those who most need it - also for cents on the dollar, and then just forgive it. So you $1 US is $50 US of medical debt paid. How amazing.
