2022 Mr. Central Florida

Hello, my name is Jake Schner and I just recently started working for The Ruthvens in June of 2022 in Sales and Leasing. I grew up in Boca Raton, Florida and moved to Lakeland to attend Florida Southern College and play on the men's basketball team. I graduated with a degree in business administration in 2020 and recently graduated with my MBA from FSC in May of 2022. Growing up my family and friends were always very involved in the local community and were passionate about giving and helping others. It's a honor to represent The Ruthvens and Central Florida Speech and Hearing by running in this great event. My biggest passion for running is my grandfather. I was very close with my grandfather throughout my childhood and early adult years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when I was about 15. The Parkinson’s started to slowly take away his ability to speak, which was a big blow to our family and to him. With the help of speech therapy my grandfather was able to speak until he passed away in 2018. The speech therapy my grandfather received was such a blessing to our family, being able to interact with him throughout my high school and early college years was a big help to my development. I live my life by these two quotes my grandfather would say to me. "Always do the right thing" and always be a good person" if I can live every day of my life doing the right thing and being a good person then I will have lived a great life.
