The Family of Erica Griffiths

ABOUT US
We promised our daughter that we would never stop fighting for a cure. Erica had a huge loving support group of family and friends, long before her cancer diagnosis. Now we all stand firmly together, in her memory, even though we are located all over the county. Her husband Joe, and little girl, Isobel are still in Wilmington, DE. Jack (her stepdad) and I live in Tampa, where Erica grew up. Her dad Wayne, Nancy (Mom #2) and siblings, Victoria, and Jacob, are in Texas, while her sister Heather and her husband Colin, (Olivia, and Henry) are in the DC area. Her sister Emily, husband Zack and little ones, Jackson and Rowan, just moved from South Korea to South Carolina (army). Her sister Melissa and her husband John, (Nicene, and Mary) are in Largo, FL, and her sister Jackie and husband Mike are also here in Tampa. Erica’s friends are too many to count as her support group was and remains literally worldwide.
We were all devastated in 2016 when Erica was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer De Novo. That means that her initial scans showed that her breast cancer had already spread. Once it spreads to other parts of the body it is considered terminal. Imagine getting that diagnosis when you are nursing your 16-month-old baby? Erica researched and advocated and did everything within her power to live as long as she could. Her goal was to see little Isobel start kindergarten. Erica died one month before the end of Izzy's kindergarten year. Now Isobel is at high risk, and so are Erica's sisters and myself. This is not to mention the effect on the 117 people who die each day from this horrific disease, as well as their family members. The only way we are going to make positive strides in making this disease more treatable and ultimately finding a cure, is through research. Your donated funds will go towards a research grant to help find new treatments and ultimately a cure, so every dollar matters. Please consider helping us make a difference, while we continue to keep our promise to Erica. And please know that while this fundraiser was started in memory of Erica, it is for each and every one of you who have somehow been touched by Metastatic Breast Cancer.
