This October, GDS Link is coming together virtually for Coffee and Tea for MBC, a fundraiser supporting metastatic breast cancer research in honor of our own Sara Sandoval (Smith).
On August 22, 2024, at just 35 years old, Sara was diagnosed de novo with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to her liver, turning what she thought would be a breast cancer diagnosis into a lifelong, incurable disease.
Since then, Sara has undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy and continues ongoing life-saving treatment to keep her cancer under control. Stage 4 breast cancer does not have a finish line. There is currently no cure, and Sara will remain in treatment and undergo regular scans indefinitely.
For Sara and the thousands of people living with metastatic breast cancer, research means more time. More birthdays, more anniversaries, more mornings with a cup of coffee, and more ordinary days that become anything but ordinary after a Stage 4 diagnosis.
GDS Link's Coffee and Tea for MBC is a simple way for our team to come together, wherever we are. Grab your coffee, tea, or favorite morning drink and consider donating the cost of a cup, or whatever amount feels right to you, to help fund research dedicated to giving people with metastatic breast cancer more time.
Together, we can turn something as simple as a cup of coffee into something that truly matters.
