Cinnamon the Retired Research Pup

"Is that food for me?" -Cinnamon

My Life's Journey

Hi! I'm Cinnamon, an 11 year old beagle enjoying my retirement. I spent the first eight years of my life in a breeding facility and then as a research animal at the U of I. My pawrents adopted me in 2022 at the beginning of my well-earned retirement.

I enjoy good butt scratches, sniffing every single thing possible, and fast food drive throughs. If I am not lounging at home attempting to steal dinner, you can find me at the U of I campus going for trots or just sniffing around my neighborhood.

I am an extremely lovable pup, although my pawrents sometimes call me demon spawn if there is ice cream to be had. I am one of my vet's favorite patients, and newspapers have referred to me as both "demure" and "humble". I have a small fan club, although membership is steadily growing.

I have particpated in Mutt Strutt for serveral years now, because adoption and fostering are close to my heart, right next to McDonald's french fries. I am extremely grateful to have been adopted into my loving home, and I want to help my fellow hounds find their furever homes. Lab animals are not often thought of as potential pets when they are retired, and I like serving as an embassador.

If you would like to keep up with my adventures, check out my Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/cinnbeagle/ which is managed by my pawrents without pay, at least until I start getting those brand deals.

About the Organization

The Champaign County Humane Society is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping companion animals healthy, housed, and looking for homes. Our shelter has been open to the Champaign County community since 1954, and we've helped thousands and thousands of animals find their forever home. Last year alone, about 1,700 pets found families through CCHS, thanks to donors like you.

As an independent nonprofit, our shelter, adoptions, and education programs rely on the generosity of this community, and the passion of supporters who fundraise on our behalf. We do not receive funding from local government entities, and we are not a branch of any national animal welfare nonprofits.
