I lost my dad almost three years ago to cancer after recieving a cancer diagnosis only a few days prior. The Never Alone Foundation was there for us providing support, comfort, and a listening ear. Coincidentally my dad, Jerry Maslowsky, was involved in the early stages of the development of the Never Alone Foundation alongside former Blue Bomber colleague Lyle Bauer. It's an organization that has always been close to our heart. 

After his passing, we worked with Never Alone Foundation to implement Jerry's Gift  - Day Away Program, where individuals and families going through the cancer journey have the opportunity to attend a memorable event such as a sporting event or concert. My dad was the most giving, selfless person I knew, always putting others before himself. This was the perfect "gift".

To continue to raise funds for this program, I worked alongside Never Alone Foundation to create Paws for a Cause. When someone is battling cancer, sometimes it's the small joys in life that can truly make all the difference. Dogs have the ability to offer unconditional love and support to those who need it the most. My dog Rue would sit with my dad for hours during what we didn't know were his final weeks. She could sense something wasn't right and wouldn't leave my dad's side.
