We're excited to come together to participate in NEC Awareness Month 2026, a fundraiser supporting NEC Society. Our collective passion for this cause drives us, and we need your support to make a difference! Every donation—big or small—helps us reach our fundraising goal and directly impacts this important cause.
Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating neonatal intestinal disease that can affect infants in their first weeks and months of life. “Necrotizing” means the process of tissue death, and “enterocolitis” means inflammation of the small intestine or colon. Babies who are born prematurely or with a medical condition, like a congenital heart defect, are most at risk of NEC, but sometimes full-term babies also develop NEC. Most cases of severe NEC have a 100% mortality rate.
The NEC Society is the world’s leading nonprofit dedicated to understanding and preventing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Their mission: to build a world without NEC through research, education, and advocacy so that babies and families never have to experience the devastation of NEC.
