No-Shave November is a fun way to be involved in the fight against cancer.
This is personal for me on several levels. I am a 13-year survivor of stage IIIB rectal cancer, and have been involved in cancer advocacy on some level for more than 20 years and volunteered for several major cancer organizations.
Two years ago, I decided to focus my advocacy efforts on two organizations: Man Up to Cancer and Fight CRC. I wanted to focus on the cancer that brought me to the dance, and also support an organization focused on helping men find connection. As a bonus, my best friend, Ryan Vieth, and I were volunteers for both organizations together.
When Ryan passed away in December 2024, I vowed that our advocacy work wouldn't stop. I carry his spirit (and his photo) with me. Ryan was and remains my hero. I only wish he could be here to be part of the amazing working being done by these great organizations.
