This fundraiser hits home for me as I have lost many people to cancer in the last few years. One person in particular my pop pop who to me was a second father. My pop pop passed away on November 21st, 2023 after battling stage 4 lung cancer for a little over 2 years.

My Pop Pop spent majority of his life on the road as a trucker, working hard to provide for himself and his family and took pride in every mile he drove. He was strong, determined, and never complained no matter how tough the job got. Our lives changed in 2021 we got the news that he had cancer. 

Even then, he faced it with the same courage and stubborn strength that he carried behind the wheel. For over a little 2 years, he fought with everything he had- attending countless doctors appointments, undergoing multiple scans, trying chemotherapy in hopes of gaining more time, showing us all what true resilience looked like. On November 21, 2023, he passed away, leaving behind not only a legacy of hard work and dedication but also the deep love and lasting memories of a man who never gave up.
