Our Local Organizations

The Hudson Youth Department uses Oakdale Plunge funds to support its summer Waterfront Program. This includes on site lifeguard training at no charge to local youth, which has created a much more diverse team of lifeguards that reflect the Hudson community. This in turn means free swim lessons for Hudson’s kids, and expanded lifeguard hours lakeside. It’s a win-win: great summer jobs for teens and more hours of safe community swimming at Oakdale Lake.

Perfect Ten After School will use its portion of the Oakdale Plunge funds to back summer camp and swimming lessons for our girls. Many of our girls have never had access or opportunity to take swimming lessons. While attending summer camp, PTen girls are given the opportunity to learn how to swim. Swimming is an essential life skill that can save lives, boost confidence and improve both physical and mental health. PTen is excited to be part of the Oakdale plunge and thanks you for helping us support these awesome programs.

Established in 1794 the Hudson Fire Department is the oldest active volunteer fire department in New York state.  Being a river city and with the many lakes throughout the county we also have an all volunteer water rescue team with membership comprised of highly trained responders from throughout Columbia county. Funds from the plunge will be used to host the 2028 Columbia County Fireman's Association Convention, an event benefiting and honoring all Coumbia County firefighters.
