The Hudson Youth Department uses Oakdale Plunge funds to support its summer Waterfront Program. This includes on site lifeguard training at no charge to local youth, which has created a much more diverse team of lifeguards that reflect the Hudson community. This in turn means free swim lessons for Hudson’s kids, and expanded lifeguard hours lakeside. It’s a win-win: great summer jobs for teens and more hours of safe community swimming at Oakdale Lake.
TheHudson Fire Departmentall volunteerWater Rescue & Dive Team is one of the best trained units in the Hudson Valley. We're a river city, after all, and every year this team answers emergency calls up down the Hudson. Funds from the plunge provide advanced training year round for the team and keep their equipment up to industry standards. Thanks to the Plunge, these fine men and women and our whole community are safer on the water!
