My journey with juvenile justice began in 2013 when I started serving in the women's prison ministry at my church. Right then and there I knew that eventually I wanted to minister to incarcerated youth. I soon found myself in TGK in the juvenile cells speaking with boys as young as 15 who were being tried as adults for the crimes they had committed. I would leave so discouraged and would pray, "God, these youth need you! They need people to believe in them! They need men and women to come alongside them and give them hope and share the life-saving message of Jesus!" "But how? How would this happen??" I would pray. In 2015 found myself at the doors step at Miami Youth for Christ and my journey began in making that prayer come alive! I began to mobilize adults to walk into the lives of hurting youth and their families. I am so excited to see where this ministry is going! Our plan is to have centers in high crime zip code areas where youth can receive mentoring and and encourage family engagement on different levels.
