Challenges!

Thanks to all of you and our generous anonymous donor, not only did we surpass our goal, but we can continue the momentum strongly.

For every 10K+ gift that comes in between now and our summer gala, they will match it 1:1 up to $80,000!  Unbelievable!

We met the challenge! Thank you Tom and Maureen.  This puts us over 43K!

Can we keep going?

One more Founder's Day anonymous donor couple, whose son and daughter-in-law met during the Pendragon production of A Christmas Carol, challenged us to get to $45,000 by the end of the night, at which point they will add $20,000 to help us surpass last year's goal.  Let's get this done!

We have another challenger!

Maureen and Tom Byrne have challenged us to get to 28K by 7pm, at which point they will add 15K to our total. Wow!

We did it! Over 20K!

We need more help getting to our next challenge!

Anne and Jim Bodnar have generously offered to add 10K if we reach 10K.  We're a little bit late... can we still get there?

We already have help to get us off to a great start!

Betsey Hall and Pam Palumbo have generously challenged us to raise $3,000 by 11am.

If we reach the goal, they will add $3,000 to our total.  Thank you Betsey and Pam!

The New Pendragon Theatre: If You Build It They Will Come

From the Desk of Trustee Kelly Brunette...

Pendragon Theatre is more than a stage—it’s a spark! It ignites creativity, connection, and possibility in the heart of our village. As a Trustee and proud Board member, I see it as an investment in our future—one that ensures Saranac Lake remains a place where stories are shared, imaginations soar, and community thrives.

Josie Good: Theatre Life

Summer 1990 Table Manners

From left: Anne Solomon Rutland, Joe Guzman, Robert Rutland, Susan Neal, Josie Good, Bob Pettee.

Josie Good came to Saranac Lake for Pendragon Theatre.  She was an assistant professor at Boston University, teaching acting and directing there and acting in Boston. “That was all I wanted… to make, to do everything.  From nailing shingles, reupholstering, costumes, painting sets, directing, anything needed. I did hair.  In fact, I just did a wig for the Winter Carnival production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.”

Read the whole story in the "More About Josie" tab above.

Reflecting on this time in her life, Josie says

“It was so joyful to be a part of this celebrated history with this family, these talented and lovely people, and I look forward to witnessing the power of the stories that will be told in Pendragon’s new home; on and off stage. I hope you will be generous today and always in pursuit of this goal and beyond."

Michael Bullard. From Pendragon to......

Michael Bullard, a Pendragon alum, is now a Los Angeles/New York City based actor, singer, dancer, and teaching artist in musical theatre and concert dance, going all over the world for over fifteen years. Credits include: Broadway: Aladdin (u/s Omar, Iago, Swing); Tours: Aladdin 1st National, West Side Story International as Baby John.

Michael credits his craft, in part, to his mother, who deliberately moved them from Michigan to the thriving arts community of Saranac Lake.  She was incredibly supportive of his interest, which developed with opportunities to participate in interesting plays in high-school, LPCA, and Pendragon; including plays people don’t usually get to see, like Angels in America. In college, no one could believe Pendragon had done it because “no one does Angels in America.”

Michael holds Pendragon close in his heart, remembering nostalgically the smell of the musty dressing room, old barn feel, and that there was really only one row with legroom.  Commenting about the quirky charm of it all: “If you know, you know.”   “I love [the existing Pendragon Theatre], but I'm excited for it to transform and update, obviously.  That old barn wasn't sustainable forever.

Take a full tour of Michael’s journey from Saranac Lake to Broadway and beyond, at "More about Michael" link at the top of the page.

Why I love Camp Pendragon....

Take it from the expert: Harry Gordon

The construction of the new Pendragon Theatre is progressing on schedule and on budget.  The existing building is being renovated to serve the "back of house" functions and the foundations have been completed for the new addition that will contain the theatre, lobby, and other "public-facing" elements.  We have a great design and construction team and expect to be ready for the first show in Spring 2026.
