More about Michael
Michael holds Pendragon close in his heart, remembering nostalgically the smell of the musty dressing room, old barn feel, and that there was really only one row with legroom. Commenting about the quirky charm of it all: “If you know, you know.” “I love [the existing Pendragon Theatre], but I'm excited for it to transform and update, obviously. That old barn wasn't sustainable forever.”
Theatre was his second home, and he saw so many shows for free at Pendragon because they lived nearby and he and his mom were ushers.
“Looking back, I didn’t realize what an amazing community resource it was.” He developed an interest in dance around 4 years old, following his sister, and knew at a very young age that dance and music would play prominently in his life. By age 11, he was taking dance very seriously. Wagner College, where he received his B.A. in Theatre Performance and Minor in Dance, further fueled his career. During his junior year, Bullard was cast in the international tour in West Side Story. He was able to graduate on time, because while touring in Paris, he did an independent study on Feminists of the French Revolution, writing before and after he went on stage. He recalls; “It was crazy, I don’t know how I did that.” His role in the 1st National Tour of Aladdin followed years later, but as so many shows did at the time, it closed prematurely because of the pandemic. The closure of theatre led Michael to relocate to LA. When the live entertainment industry reopened after Covid in the fall of 2021, the Broadway company of Aladdin called Michael and he moved back to NYC to make his Broadway debut. He is now bi-coastal and spends time in NY and LA. He is currently working on creating his own work, including a cabaret idea and a one man show: “The Women Who Raised Me” inspired by his mom and many other strong women in his life.
