Philadelphia Congenital Heart Walk

This year marks my second time participating in the Congenital Heart Walk, and I’m walking with a purpose that is deeply personal. Our son, Callan, was born with a critical congenital heart defect, truncus arteriosus, and his life has been shaped by decades of medical research and innovation. The care that saved Callan’s life exists because of research like that funded by The Children’s Heart Foundation, alongside countless researchers, clinicians, and institutions all working toward the same goal: better outcomes for children with congenital heart disease.

As The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates 30 years of advancing research that saves lives and changes outcomes, this walk feels especially meaningful to us. For three decades, CHF has helped drive the discoveries, treatments, and surgical innovations that allow children like Callan to not only survive, but thrive.

This walk is about more than steps. It’s about supporting research that improves diagnosis, reduces complications, and gives heart warriors the chance to celebrate more milestones, more birthdays, and more everyday moments that families like ours cherish so deeply.
