Walking for 305 Tiny Reasons

Since 2008, I have opened my home to some of the most vulnerable animals at the SPCA: our foster mamas and their tiny kittens. To date, I have fostered 305 cats and kittens, which averages out to about 17 lives saved every single year for nearly two decades.

My Paws in the Park walk this year is dedicated to the foster mamas who arrive at the shelter exhausted and fearful, only to blossom and find their confidence once they feel the safety of a home... and the overbearing love of, well, me. I am walking for the neonatal kittens, those tiniest of lives that require around-the-clock bottlefeeding, intensive care, baths, and a little bit of magic just to make it through the night. I’m also walking for the sassy ones, those feisty binks who genuinely believe they are the biggest and baddest in the room. Last but not least, I'm walking for the cuddle and purr bugs who I wish I could adopt, and saying goodbye to them is heartbreaking, but it's the right thing to do.
