Why I’m Walking

When we learned during pregnancy that our son, Kyrian, had Down syndrome, we had no idea what our journey would look like. Like so many new parents, we had questions, fears, and a lot to learn.

The Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound became one of the organizations that helped us realize we weren’t walking this journey alone. Through their Birth to 3 programs, resources, community events, and most recently a scholarship that helped cover Kyrian’s speech therapy this summer, they’ve made a meaningful difference in our family’s life.

This year, for the first time, we’re giving back by creating Team Kyrian’s Scenic Route.

We chose that name because our path hasn’t always been the one we expected—but it has been filled with incredible people, unexpected joy, and milestones worth celebrating. Every step has reminded us that a different path can still be a beautiful one.

As a team, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $321 in honor of Trisomy 21. Every dollar raised helps provide resources, education, programs, and scholarships so other families can experience the same support we’ve been blessed to receive.
