Thirty-one years ago, Bob and I, plus our 3 older kids, welcomed Joey into our family. Along with the exhilaration of having our precious new boy, was bewilderment. We were heading into some unfamiliar territory, and weren't certain how to begin. Our saving grace was the parents that had gone before us. Fortunately for us, the parents we met understood how important education, community and shared stories were to all of us on this journey. Those wonderful parents began the organization that has blossomed into the DSC. With the support and nurturing of that early community, and the continuing support today, Joey has thrived. He is an independent young man, with 3 jobs, living on his own. He has a busy life that he lives to the fullest. We are grateful to be co-chairing the Buddy Walk this year, giving back to an organization that has meant so much in our lives.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by contributing to Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound (DSC), an organization that means a lot to me. The DSC's mission is to empower people with Down syndrome and their families through life-long learning and experiences, while building an accepting and inclusive society. Funds raised at the Puget Sound Buddy Walk allow them to continue to offer their many programs, therapies, resources, events, and initiatives, and to add more to meet the needs of their members.
Thanks for supporting an organization that is important to me!
