In May of 2019, my daughter was entering her eighth month of pregnancy. She had been diagnosed with "mild" preeclampsia and was being monitored every few days at the local hospital. One morning she went to the hospital early for a severe headache. Minutes after arriving at the hospital she suffered a seizure and after they had stabilized her, they couldn't find a fetal heartbeat. All of our lives were turned upside down that day.
Xander Lee was delivered two days later, sleeping. The feeling of loss hasn't lessened one bit since that sad day. Everything I see in this now drab world reminds me of my grandson. I'm saddened every day when I think of the things he will never get to do. Preeclampsia is something that is little understood and hopefully this small event will help fund research and raise awareness of this devastating condition.
