I'm racing for Susan!

Susan and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Susan's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!

Susan's Story

Susan is a 17-year-old Maasai girl from Segera in Laikipia and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She grew up in a small two-room mud house with both her parents and four younger siblings. Her father works as a watchman, and her mother is unemployed but sometimes finds work on farms. Neither of her parents had the opportunity to attend school. The family’s income barely covers their basic needs, and Susan has been sent home from school several times due to the lack of school fees. She had to walk for two hours through the dangerous forest to get to school. The long walks in the cold often made her sick.

Despite these challenges, Susan has remained determined. In school, she served as a class prefect, showing strong leadership. She enjoys reading and playing netball. Susan dreams of becoming a biology teacher. She believes education is the key to life, and wants to change her community. To Susan, Daraja is the bridge to a brighter future.
