Dear friend, 

Please join me in supporting Phoenix Bikes. It's an incredible non-profit in the D.C. area that teaches bike mechanic skills to youth. The first bike they learn to fix, it gets donated to a community member in need. The second bike they fix, they keep it. It's analog. It's skills-building. It's community. It's a haven! 

I live in Philly now and am still figuring out my bearings. The bike, of course, naturally leads me to the best people. Life is pulling me in a lot of directions—a PhD program studying data centers, puzzling out my professional puzzle journey, juggling jobs that actually pay the bills while I pursue my nobler interests, and, of course, helpful servings of joy and sadness that is life. 

Paradoxically, during these moments when it feels like there isn't enough time or clarity to get anything done, committing time on that saddle somehow makes everything make sense. 

Me on August 1. While my fundraising team cranked out 100 miles in Arlington, VA, I biked 50 miles with new Philly bike friends. Here, we are stopped for a classic Philly Phlat. I've never seen a city with such a wide variety of potholes…

On August 2, I attended a gear exchange at a metal music bar that is a haunt for bike couriers and adjacent bike lovers with more Philly bike friends. There's a lot to love here.
