Each year Ridge-A-Thon participants and donors help encourage donations for the Emergency Medicines Fund at Taos Community Foundation, which funds grants in the area of health and basic needs in Taos and Western Colfax Counties. In 2021 the need has never been greater so the challenge has never been more important than the first event to support Ben's family.
Ridge-A-Thon is a breath-taking snow sports event at Taos Ski Valley. In 2021 for the 25th Anniversary, it has expanded to allow for broader participation for those who cannot travel to ski at Taos Ski Valley, and anyone who wants to show their efforts for community health through completing another challenge. For those at TSV for 2021, participants will lap the hike-to terrain over two days of their choosing between March 1 and April 4 (Extreme Ridge Challenger), or they can also take just a single hike (Ridge Raiser) during that time. For those who can’t or don’t ski/board/hike you have the opportunity to design another challenge to serve as your “Ridge Challenge" (My Kinda Ridge).
To increase the sense of community around the event this year we are encouraging participants to keep their fundraising page and social media profiles updated with images and videos of their preparation for and completion of their challenge to help everyone connect with their friends, donors, and other Ridge-A-Thon participants.
Registration is individual. Individual fundraisers are encouraged to participate with a partner or team for the event because it’s just really a lot of fun, dress up, fly your flag, as everyone will be asking you what the heck you’re doing.
Individual registration is fulfilled by raising a minimum of $200 in donations in advance of the event, through our online fundraising site or by good old check, but most of our annual supporters aim higher and fundraise right through the event using the on-mountain exposure to drum up donations from other curious mountain-goers.
