On April 28, 2021, our son, Ezra, was born with several congenital heart defects. Within a year, he underwent 3 open heart surgeries and, due to complications, he remained in the hospital for most of the time after his second. Then, in July of 2022, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Ultimately, our sweet boy gained his Angel wings in September of 2022 because his cancer could not be treated due to his underdeveloped heart.
We believe that no child should have to be born with heart defects or, if they are, that their defect(s) should be reparable to the extent that a full life is possible. Unfortunately, science has not achieved either goal…yet. This is why we fundraise (walk): to honor our Ezra’s life and memory, to support the brilliant and compassionate scientists who work toward these endeavors, and to offer hope for heart warriors and their families.
