My friend Tamara Braun, always supportive, kind, and generous, not to mention talented, invited me to participate in this event that is close to her heart. What I know about ovarian cancer is what a devastatingly low survival rate it has, compared with the progress that's been made in other areas. We can all be empathetic enough to imagine what it would be like to hear that diagnosis and know those statistics. Giving funds to critical research, like this event does (part of UCLA research, as I understand it), is one way to move the cause forward and quite literally save lives.
