In July 2026, I’ll be voluntarily hiking up a mountain (yes, on purpose) as part of the 26th annual Seek the Peak—a fundraiser for the legendary Mount Washington Observatory.
Why, you ask? Great question. Mostly because it’s for a good cause… and slightly because I’ve made questionable life choices.
Mount Washington Observatory has spent 90+ years stationed on one of the most brutally unpredictable mountains in North America, collecting weather data in conditions that make a New Hampshire February feel like a beach day. Thanks to them, we get accurate forecasts, critical climate research, and daily updates that help keep hikers like me from making really bad decisions.
So while I’m out there battling wind, rocks, and my own cardio, you can support from the comfort of your couch by making a tax-deductible donation.
Your contribution helps keep this incredible nonprofit running—and helps ensure I don’t suffer up there completely for nothing.
If you’ve ever checked the weather before a hike, enjoyed the White Mountains, or just want to support a good cause (or my questionable endurance), I’d appreciate it.
