On June 30, 2004, Trent and I were preparing for the birth of our first child.  The entire pregnancy had been perfect and we were ready!  The car seat was in the car, the nursery was decorated, and baby clothes were washed and packed.  It didn't occur to us that we wouldn't be bringing our baby home.  That morning, I woke up and immediately sensed something was wrong.  I then realized that I wasn't feeling our baby move.  I tried to talk myself out of it, but I couldn't shake it.  Trent and I finally went to the doctor to put my mind at ease before we went into the weekend.  We were shocked when the doctors explained that we were looking at our son's heart on the ultrasound monitor, but it was no longer beating.  

We were blessed to have our family and many wonderful friends by our side as we went to the hospital to deliver our precious Garrett and in the days following.  We eventually decided to do something productive with our love for him.  It started with a golf tournament and has grown into Star Legacy Foundation - the largest non-profit organization in the United States with a primary focus on stillbirth.  We work with families, advocates, health professionals, and researchers from around the world every day to prevent stillbirth and encourage optimal care when prevention isn't possible.  

We have chosen to parent Garrett through the efforts of the foundation.  Our friends and family started us on this amazing journey and we appreciate everyone who has supported and encouraged us along the way.
