Just about anyone who knows me well knows that the SPCA is near and dear to my heart.
Why?
They do so much for our community, not only in the thousands of pets they save (3,500 a year!), but by offering low-cost spay/neuter services, humane education, and the AniMeals program, which provides free pet food to low-income, homebound senior citizen pet owners
Their adoption center is a model for how an adoption center should be run. The animals are well cared for and given proper exercise and socialization. The animal care staff at the SPCA is second to none; I've never known a more caring group of people.
Ellie! Our girl is an SPCA dog, and we are thankful every day for the good people who decided to pull her from the Wake County shelter and give her a second chance.
It's the best volunteer gig I've ever had. Volunteers are made to feel appreciated, and I've met so many wonderful, like-minded people.
