Growing up I played sports all the time. Some of the sports I played were baseball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. Sports had a huge impact on my life from teaching me valuable life lessons to connecting me with people who will be life long friends. I honestly couldn't imagine life without being able to play sports.

     On August 23rd, 2014 living life without being able to play sports seemed almost certain, or so I thought. That day I broke my neck when I dove into a sandbar at the beach. Paralyzed from the chest down, I thought surely my sports playing days were over. After 4 months in rehab, I returned to Richmond. A friend had told me to check out an organization called Sportable and that's when my life started looking up again.

     Sportable has enabled me to play sports again! I repeat, Sportable has enabled me to play sports again! Without this organization I would not be able to do most any of the stuff you may have seen me doing and would not be where I am today without them. Here is a list of things I've done because of Sportable.

     For people with disabilities there are a number of barriers to playing sports again. One of the biggest is access to resources and money. The equipment we use to play sports is expensive!! One rugby chair costs $5,000! Your support enables Sportable to provide access to equipment otherwise unattainable for most and breaks down the barriers we face.
