ABOUT STEP FORWARD
Step Forward is Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania’s (PFWPA) annual family-friendly fundraising event. On Saturday, September 26th we will not only be recognizing everyone’s fundraising efforts, but we will be celebrating our strength and fellowship as a community. We will have a leisurely walk around the indoor arena that will get us moving and symbolize us Stepping Forward together as we live with and are connected to PD.
Step Forward with us and help us raise funds so we can continue to offer valuable programming, events, webinars, and resources for the local Parkinson’s community.
If you register online, you can choose to just purchase a ticket or purchase a ticket and fundraise. If you choose to fundraise, you can customize your individual fundraising page, join a team if you wish, and share your page with family and friends to spread awareness and raise money for PFWPA programming and events.
We will also be giving special prizes to the top 3 individual and team fundraisers! You will have until 10/1/2026 to raise money. We encourage everyone to fundraise. Plus, your $35 registration counts toward your fundraising total!
ABOUT PFWPA
Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania (PFWPA) is the leading resource for the rapidly growing Parkinson’s community in western/central Pennsylvania. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological disease in the world, and our region is a “hot spot” experiencing a higher-than-average rate of incidence.
PFWPA maintains strong working relationships with various health systems, human service agencies, government offices and health care facilities. As a local nonprofit, every dollar raised stays in this region. PFWPA has been providing essential services, programs, support and education to individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their families since 1995. PFWPA serves Allegheny and 21 additional counties with an estimated minimum 20,000 individuals with PD and a corresponding number of care partners. Our experienced, compassionate staff works daily to bring an array of resources to the community, including the following:
-
PFWPA offers 90 weekly in-person, PD-specific exercise classes throughout the area to maintain balance and mobility, adding to quality of life; additional classes are available online;
-
PFWPA supervises 40 regional support groups, providing education, social engagement and hopeful information to individuals with PD and their care partners;
-
PFWPA’s Community Engagement Program provided education and awareness information at 55 presentations in underengaged communities in 2025, reaching more 1,775 individuals at community centers, senior high-rise locations, YMCA facilities, etc.
We are here to support the PD community. We can't do it without your support.
