In honor and memory of Jerry Yaffa

Please help my family and I raise money for the National CJD Foundation and select Team Jerry Yaffa.

My father was diagnosed with this horrible disease in May of 2005 and died June 22, 2005.  We wasted so much time going to the best doctors, the best hospitals, nobody could help.  Finally a neurologist from Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia explained he had CJD. A fatal neurological disease. He passed away three weeks later.

My father was a strong man!  He lost a leg in an accident at work and survived.  He lost an eye and damaged half his face in another accident, and survived.  He had a massive heart attack and survived.  He never once complained.  He kept smiling and always had a positive outlook. He showed me the importance of helping others and doing the right thing, no matter what the cost. I lost my mentor and best friend.

It's been my mission to keep his memory alive and support the foundation who helped my family.

Please give what you can to help find a cure, spread awareness, and help families in need.

Thank you.

The Yaffa Family

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
